The City of Delaware is considering two final candidates for the police chief position. The two are:
Mark McDonough, Chief of Police for Whitehouse, Ohio, since 2012. Prior to that, McDonough served as a patrol sergeant for the City of Bowling Green Police Department. He has 32 years in law enforcement.
Adam Moore, Interim Chief of Police for the City of Delaware. Moore was appointed Interim Chief in May 2022 and has been a Captain since 2012. He previously served as a sergeant, school resource officer and patrol officer with Delaware. Moore has more than 20 years of law enforcement experience.
Delaware hopes to have a new Chief, its 13th, appointed after Labor Day.
Delaware began its selection process in June following the retirement of Bruce Pijanowski. The top candidates emerged from a field of seven following interviews with a panel of community members, a police chief assessment exercise conducted by the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, meetings with City department heads and union representatives, and one-on-one meetings with City Manager Tom Homan who will make the appointment.
The two will share their thoughts about the future of policing and public safety in Delaware on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6:30 pm.
