Delaware State sophomore Valerie Ashamu has been named MEAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after breaking a school record in high jump at the Raleigh Relays. Her leap of 1.72 meters is currently best in conference.

The Delaware State Hornets softball team swept their doubleheader against Chestnut Hill on April 8. Strong pitching performances and timely hitting helped secure wins of 4-3 and 8-0 for Delaware State.

Michael Lane struck out eleven batters as Delaware State edged past Maryland-Eastern Shore 5-4. Key contributions came from both pitchers and hitters as the Hornets secured victory ahead of their next matchup.

Delaware State women’s tennis started strong against Morgan State with a doubles win but lost momentum during singles play, resulting in a 6-1 defeat at home. The team looks forward to bouncing back in future competitions.

Delaware State University’s women’s tennis team lost its MEAC opener against Norfolk State on April 16 with a score of 7–0. The Hornets split doubles but could not secure any singles wins as conference play begins.

Delaware State women’s tennis took an early lead against Howard University by winning two doubles matches but ultimately lost the MEAC contest. Senior Lucia Casas Blas contributed points in both doubles and singles play. The team aims to rebound in its next home game against Morgan State.

The Delaware State Hornets softball team broke a late tie to defeat North Carolina Central Eagles 3-1. A bases-clearing triple by Zaelyn Harding secured all three runs. The Hornets now prepare to host Lincoln University.
