The Black Coaches Association announced on April 23 that Daniel Stockdale, head coach of Delaware State women’s softball, has been selected as one of the Top 10 Black Head Coaches in NCAA Division I Softball.

The recognition highlights the limited representation of Black coaches at this level and emphasizes the significance of visibility and opportunity within collegiate sports. The association said, “In a sport where representation is limited, this moment means more.”

According to the announcement, these coaches are not only competing but also leading programs with winning records at the highest level. The association stated, “Earning a .500 or better record in Division I softball is no small feat, and these leaders continue to raise the standard.”

The statement continued by underlining that their impact goes beyond athletic achievements: “This is bigger than wins and losses. This is visibility. This is opportunity. This is progress.” The organization added, “At BCA, we recognize the impact, the resilience, and the excellence it takes to thrive in spaces where there are so few. We see you. We celebrate you. We stand with you.”

The announcement concluded by encouraging support for these coaches: “Show these coaches some well-deserved love!”
