Seven new players have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Delaware State Hornets football team, according to an announcement made on February 4, 2026. The signings took place on National Signing Day, marking a significant step for these high school athletes as they prepare to continue their football careers at the collegiate level.
Head coach DeSean Jackson, now entering his second season with the Hornets, commented on the incoming class. “Bringing in seven new players on National Signing Day shows the direction we’re going — young men with talent, passion, and a commitment to grow. This class isn’t just about counting numbers; it’s about building culture, fostering competition, and creating opportunities. I told these guys from the moment they stepped on campus that when you put in the work and believe in each other, great things happen,” said head coach DeSean Jackson.
The new additions include Mark Ricks (safety) and Jaylen Whitaker (cornerback), both from Los Angeles, California; Joshua Clark (linebacker) from Corona, California; Hayden Thompson and Connor Thompson (wide receivers) from Chantilly, Virginia; Tyrell Eldridge (athlete) from Atlanta, Georgia; and Matteo Bracalenti (kicker) from West Grove, Pennsylvania.
Coach Jackson also expressed optimism about expanding the program further. “I’m proud of these young men and look forward to continuing to add to the Hornet family,” he said.
The coaching staff welcomed not only Wednesday’s signees but also acknowledged 20 additional players who joined during early signing day in December.
