The Delaware State women’s tennis team lost 6–1 to Morgan State on April 7 at the DSU Tennis Courts. The Hornets took an early lead by winning the doubles point but were unable to maintain momentum in singles play as the Bears secured five of six matches.

The match began with Delaware State performing well in doubles, where Lucia Casas Blas and Alba Benedito won their match 6–1, and Gabrielle Goldman and S. Ampofo added a 6–4 victory. These wins gave the Hornets a 1–0 advantage heading into singles competition.

Morgan State responded strongly in singles, taking control across most of the lineup. The Bears won five straight matches, including several in straight sets, which shifted the outcome decisively in their favor.

Delaware State players Hannah Watkins and S. Ampofo managed to push their opponents to three sets but ultimately could not secure additional points for their team. The Hornets’ only point came from their performance in doubles as Morgan State completed its comeback for a final score of 6–1.

Looking ahead, Delaware State will aim to regroup for upcoming matches.
