Eight teams advance after opening round of DIAA boys basketball state tournament

The first round of the 2026 Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) Boys Basketball State Tournament concluded on March 3, with eight teams advancing to the next stage. The tournament, which features high school teams from across Delaware, saw competitive games as schools vied for a place in Round 2.

Final scores from Round 1 included victories by Sanford over Appoquinimink (47-37), A.I. duPont over Sussex Central (71-50), Salesianum over Woodbridge (63-52), Caravel over Milford (65-54), Odessa over Laurel (56-47), Great Oaks over Delcastle (61-56), Tatnall over Archmere (62-49), and St. Elizabeth defeating Concord (72-64).

The advancing teams will compete against top-seeded opponents in Round 2, scheduled for Thursday, March 5 at 6:00 PM. These games will be held at the home venues of the higher-seeded teams. Tickets for Round 2 are set to go on sale online through GoFan starting Wednesday, March 4. GoFan serves as the official ticketing platform for DIAA events and tickets can be purchased at https://gofan.co/app/school/DIAA.

Select games from Round 2 will be streamed live via The NFHS Network, providing remote access to those unable to attend in person. Further details about streaming are accessible through the DIAA website.
