FOIA Request to Delaware State University Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Delaware State University. This request seeks detailed information concerning the presence and support of Chinese National students at the university.

The request specifically asks for documents or lists that identify all current students who are Chinese Nationals, including their departments of study. If privacy concerns arise, we have requested a total count of these students with a breakdown by department. Additionally, we seek information on scholarships awarded to these students, detailing the amount and source of each scholarship. We are particularly interested in identifying any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Furthermore, our inquiry extends to understanding how the university monitors its students, including Chinese Nationals, to safeguard its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of Kent County Today and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As members of the media dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these records is essential for informing the public. In line with our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver for this FOIA submission.

We anticipate that this request will provide valuable insights into how educational institutions manage international student affairs while maintaining security protocols.
