The Delaware State men’s basketball team defeated Morgan State 75-70 in an overtime game at Scope Arena on March 12. Miles Webb led the Hornets with a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The victory is significant for Delaware State, which improved its record to 8-22. The team limited Morgan State to just 14.3 percent shooting from three-point range, holding the Bears to only three successful shots out of 21 attempts from beyond the arc.
Webb was supported by Rahmir Moore, who added 14 points, and Ponce James, who contributed 12 points and four assists. Delaware State also out-rebounded Morgan State by a margin of 42-35, including collecting 12 offensive rebounds that led to 13 second chance points.
Delaware State started strong, building an early lead and entering halftime ahead by a score of 27-15. However, Morgan State rallied in the second half to tie the game at 60-60 and force overtime. In the extra period, Morgan State briefly took a two-point lead before Delaware State responded with a decisive run to secure the win.
The Hornets’ defense played a key role throughout the contest, limiting Morgan State to just over thirty-two percent shooting from the field overall. Bench players also made important contributions during regulation time.
Looking ahead, Delaware State will aim to build on this performance as it continues its season.
