The Delaware State Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field program finished its final regular-season meet at the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational, according to a May 4 announcement. The event took place ahead of the upcoming 2026 Outdoor Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships in Norfolk, Virginia.
Senior Alonzo Sims Jr. started the meet for the Hornets by winning first place in the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.85 seconds. Sims Jr.’s performance is now ranked number one in the conference and fourth all-time in Delaware State University history.
Marian Drazan achieved a milestone by finishing seventeenth in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:49.29, becoming the first Delaware State runner to break the three-minute-and-fifty-second barrier in that event. Lekan Sotonwa followed closely behind with a fourth-place finish at 3:51.90, which is now second on DSU’s all-time list and sets a new freshman record for the school. Ian Cain earned fifth place with a time of 3:52.40, securing third on DSU’s all-time leaderboard.
Cain also performed well in the 800 meters, clocking a time of 1:49.92 to earn second place on DSU’s all-time list for that event, while Dashawn Keller finished twelfth at 1:54.59.
In relay competition, Keith Jenerette, Alonzo Sims Jr., Ian Cain, and Sage Phillips won first place in the men’s four-by-400-meter relay with a time of 3:13.04.
Ja’Mari Manson closed out regular season field events for Delaware State by recording a mark of two-point-zero-six meters in the men’s high jump.
