Public comments are being accepted by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control after the state agency and Mountaire Farms of Delaware, Inc. reached an agreement addressing violations by the company from 2017.
Mountaire Farms, a chicken processing company headquartered in Millsboro with about 7,000 employees in facilities in Delaware, as well as North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Arkansas, committed spray irrigation and land application permit violations. The agreement resolves violations under the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and state law.
Written comments will be accepted until March 2. Comments can be emailed to DNRECHearingComments@delaware.gov or mailed to Lisa Vest, Office of the Secretary, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
