New Castle County ranked first among counties in Delaware by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of New Castle County residents was an inflation-adjusted $33,696 per year. New Castle County had 202,654 households in 2017, with a population of 555,036.

Kent County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Delaware, with a median income of only $28,873 per year. That was $4,823 less than the median income in New Castle County at the time. Kent County had 63,381 households in 2017 and a population of 173,145.
