City of Delaware issued the following announcement on July 23.
Construction of a West Central Avenue bike path section, from Lexington Boulevard to Locust Curve Drive, and another part of the section from Houk Road east, should begin within the next three weeks. The middle, Phase 2, portion will begin as soon as easements can be obtained. Related, a City-owned housing duplex located on West Central across from Lexington Blvd., is being taken down this week, due mainly to the costs of repairs and upkeep. With the structure removed, we can provide a dirt walking trail on city-owned property to the south, near the Delaware Run. Access at the Central Avenue traffic signal is also being planned. These projects are part of a broader effort to deliver on resident requests for more walking options and a more-connected bike path network.
