Pennsylvania Ave. Water Line Project to Begin

Contractors for the City of Delaware will install a new water main along Pennsylvania Avenue, from Sandusky Street to Euclid Avenue, this month.

Work by G.E. Baker Construction, Inc. should be completed by January 2023, weather permitting. The project is being funded by City’s Water Capital Improvement fund.

The City is replacing a water main that has a history of four breaks since 2009 and most recently in 2013.  This work is also being done prior to Pennsylvania Avenue resurfacing in 2024. Pennsylvania Avenue will require closures each work day for through-traffic, beginning at 8 am. This includes:

Eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue, from Euclid Avenue to Sandusky Street.

The Pennsylvania-Sandusky Street intersection and US 23 access on Monday and Tuesday, November 14-15. US 23S traffic exiting at Sandusky Street, will have access to WB Pennsylvania.

All closed streets will re-open at the conclusion of each work day.

Water service interruptions will be necessary, and notices will be made 24-hours in advance to the affect residents.  After the new water main has been installed and placed into service, pavement and turf restoration will take place.

Wile every attempt will be made to keep construction disturbance to a minimum, area residents may experience road closures, traffic delays, restricted street parking and increased noise during regular business hours.  The City will make every effort to provide 24 hours advance notice of any non-emergency water shut down, but residents may experience short periods of no water service.

Public questions may be directed to the Public Utilities Department, 740-203-1904.
