Unified basketball and girls basketball state tournaments progress in Delaware

The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) has announced the results of the first rounds for both the Unified Basketball and Girls Basketball State Tournaments. The competitions, held on March 2, saw teams vying for a place in the next stages.

In Unified Basketball, McKean defeated Woodbridge 29-15, William Penn edged out Seaford 17-15, Newark Charter beat Milford 26-5, and Appoquinimink overcame Middletown 16-9. These results set up quarterfinal matchups scheduled for Friday, March 6 at 4:00 PM. The pairings are Dover vs. Appoquinimink, Caesar Rodney vs. Polytech, Indian River vs. Newark Charter, and McKean vs. William Penn. All quarterfinal games will be hosted by the higher-seeded team’s home site. No tickets are required to attend Unified Basketball games until the finals.

For Girls Basketball Round 1, Archmere won against Appoquinimink with a score of 58-26; Hodgson narrowly beat Delcastle 30-28; Caesar Rodney scored a victory over Sussex Tech at 67-55; Concord defeated Newark Charter 42-29; Early College won over Odyssey Charter with a score of 48-25; Odessa beat Middletown by a margin of 49-24; Ursuline triumphed over Wilmington Friends at 52-28; and Tatnall bested Polytech with a final score of 37-30.

Second round games for girls basketball will take place on Wednesday, March 4 at 6:00 PM at the home sites of higher-seeded teams.

Tickets for Girls Basketball Round 2 can be purchased online through GoFan starting Tuesday, March 3 via https://gofan.co/app/school/DIAA . GoFan is DIAA’s official ticket platform. Attendance remains free for Unified Basketball games until the championship game.

Select second-round girls basketball and unified quarterfinals matches will be available to stream via The NFHS Network. More information about streaming can be found on the DIAA website.
