Despite recent emotional testimony by teenager Greta Thunberg before the United Nations and other protests, a local conservative group is urging people to keep their heads about climate change.
An article by Sam Friedman, published in the Conservative Caucus of Delaware newsletter, notes, “A Yale University survey right before last year’s midterms showed that only 2 percent of voters had this issue as their top election priority, and overall climate change was 15th out of 28 issues the survey offered.”
Of greater concern is the possibility that developments like Thunberg’s world tour may frighten children unnecessarily, further divide the country, and ignore scientific facts, Friedman writes.
“While I would never encourage needless waste [we do have a moral duty to preserve the environment for future generations], we should live in accordance with real science and not propaganda pushed by groups seeking to undermine our freedoms and our way of life,” Friedman concluded.
